DescriptionReishi mushrooms are bitter-tasting fungi that grow outdoors, mainly on decaying hardwood trees. They are native to east Asia (China, Japan, Korea and Thailand).
Most of the red reishi that are marketed as Ganoderma lucidum, are actually Ganoderma sichuanense (Lingzhi).Ganoderma lucidum is a red-colored species of Ganoderma with a limited distribution in Europe and parts of China.
Because they represent separate phylogenetic species within the Ganoderma lucidum complex, their profiles of polysaccharides, triterpenoids and ganoderic acids are different. While both share broad immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and health-supporting properties, there can be subtle differences in their specific therapeutic potencies and may require different dosages.
